Final Standings 2001 Season
Game scores for the matches are available at Pierce Division Match Results. The results of the Lakes and Clover Park match on Wednesday, 10/24/01, were not available as this page was being published.
Upcoming Events:West Central DistrictsThe West Central Districts are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3rd, at Fife High School. The pools will be:
Play begins at 9:00 am. First place finishers from each pool play for District Championship, second place finishers play for third and final seed to States. All others eliminated. State Championships at St. Martins on Nov. 9 and 10.
Previous Standings:Fife Wins Division23 Oct. 2001: Fife locked up the Divisional Championship with their victory over Lakes on Thursday, 15-1, 15-5, and 15-1. They had a bye on Monday, and play White River and then Clover Park on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. White River lost to Washington on Thursday (Washington, 15-8, 16-14, 15-6), and must defeat Fife tomorrow (Wednesday) to ensure a tie for second place. We have not received game scores for all the matches, but we believe that the following summarizes the Division's standing following Monday's matches.
Fife Nears Lock on 1st, 3 Teams Scrambling for 2 Favored Seeds17 Oct. 2001: The top four SeaMount/Pierce teams will have a shot at the West Central Districts, but the last team of the four faces a pig-tail match with Sequim before they can claim their ticket. And fate would have it that the three teams presently in spots two through four all have the potential to finish anywhere from second to fourth, depending largely on what happens Thursday. Our "best guess" as to Pierce Division standings is Fife (9-0), White River (8-2), Washington (6-3), Peninsula (5-4), Franklin Pierce (3-7), Clover Park (1-8) and Lakes (0-9). White River needs a victory over Washington this Thursday to hold on to second place, while Washington needs to beat White River to stay ahead of Peninsula. Whoever loses the White River/Washington match is likely to find Peninsula breathing down their neck come next Tuesday. So their match at White River should be a barn burner! But it also looks like Clover Park has developed some new tricks with their hard fought victory over Franklin Pierce (see the updated Match Results.) So Peninsula needs make sure it doesn't overlook their next opponent ... Clover Park! Stay tuned.
14 Oct. 2001: This is a listing of the standings in the Pierce Division that includes partial data through Oct. 11th. The standings are probably correct, but the matches won and lost, and the game and point totals are based on the data in the Match Results table, which is known to be incomplete at this time. We believe that Fife is presently 8-0, White River is 8-1, and Washington is 6-2. Fife has rescheduled their match with Clover Park to Oct. 25th, so they are currently one match "behind" White River in matches played, and Washington has just eight matches because they had a bye on the Thursday, Oct. 11th. Highlighted matches for the coming week would seem to be Fife at Washington, followed by Washington at White River.
10 Oct. 2001: This is a partial listing of the standings in the Pierce Division through Oct. 9th. The matches won and lost are believed to be correct for the top three schools, but the game and point totals are based on the data in the Match Results table, which is known to be incomplete at this time. Fife has rescheduled their match with Clover Park to Oct. 25th, so they are currently one match "behind" the other leaders in matches played.
