Day 2:  White River wins Districts, Sequim and Peninsula Rally to Take 3rd and 4th Seeds

31 Oct. 2004:  White River and Fife secured the first and second seeds to State.  Sequim recovered from a first round loss to Peninsula, defeating both Washington and Kennedy in loser-out matches, to take the fourth seed to State.  Peninsula lost to Fife in the semi-finals of the championship bracket, but managed to beat Highline in a loser-out match, and then followed up with it's second win over Sequim in two days in the consolation division finals to take the 3rd seed to State.  Highline and Peninsula had previously met on Sept. 16th in Seamount League play, and in that match, Highline was the victor in four games.

29 Oct. 2004:  In the pigtails that lead into the 8-team WCD double elimination playoff, Highline defeated North Mason (3-1), Peninsula defeated Hazen (3-2), Washington defeated Franklin Pierce (3-2), and Mt. Colored Balls Will Not Be Used

Sept. 8th, 2004:  The proposed use of colored volleyball for our league play has been turned down.  It was found that the experimental use of the colored ball requires the approval of the WIAA Board, and the next meeting of the Board is scheduled for October, too late for this year.

2004 Season Underway

Sept. 5th, 2004:  The Seamount League Coaches meeting was held at Tyee High School on August 19th, 2004.  This year, for the first time in any Seamount sport, we will compete in a league-wide round robin.  There will be no Seamount League Tournament this year.  Following our last scheduled matches on Oct. 25th, the top ten (or eleven depending upon the order of finish of Sequim and North Mason in the 2A/3A Nisqually League,) will be seeded directly into the West Central District Tournament which begins on Thursday, Oct. 28th.  At the request of Jan Kirk (Fife HS) the coaches agreed to use colored volleyballs for our league matches, but at the option of the teams.  Some reasons for not using a colored ball are NFHS rules require a white ball, and so the colored balls are not NFHS approved, and not all schools will be able to provide high quality colored balls for the match.  (Note:  The use of colored balls could not be approved in time for this year's season, see article above, Sept. 8th.)

The King Division schools also agreed to hold Varsity and JV Jamborees at Renton High School on Wednesday, Sept. 1st.  It happened that three schools were unable to field teams on that date, but the remaining five were able to compete, and they enjoyed the newly renovated facilities at Renton.
